Your child may have bacterial sinusitis after suffering from a respiratory infection or a common cold. This is because the cold causes swelling that can block the opening of the sinuses leading to bacteria being trapped in the sinuses. Sinusitis is suspected when cold-like symptoms such as stuffy nose, headache, cough, fever, pain or soreness over sinuses, loss of smell, nasal discharge, and daytime cough last over ten days without improvement.
Consult your healthcare provider promptly if your child has these symptoms.
